Spotlight on... companies

While many companies manufacture with a wide range of materials and plastics are often found used with other materials such as ceramics or metal within a single product, some companies have made their reputation through a distinctive use of plastics.

A pre-World War 2 example is Brookes & Adams, known especially for their mottled Bandalasta ware. Not much later Tupperware began to exploit the flexibility of polythene. Companies that have exploited the smooth shine of plastics are Braun and Apple. Dyson transformed vaccum cleaner design with its transparent plastic bagless dust collectors. The mouldability of plastics is key to the development of the Koziol brand and the saturated colours obtainable with plastics to that of Zak! designs.
