Description
A highly styalised depiction of a figure riding atop a large fish, cut with fine tines on the lower edge. The comb is cut from the tip of the horn. The carved figure is hollow and in the round and forms a handle for the comb. The feet mark the point at which the horn is cut and flattened to create the fish shaped comb, which is decorated with scales and fins, carved into the surface of the horn. The eye appears to be an insert of white horn with a black stained centre. Circa late 20th century
