Blue cup and saucer, 2 of 4

Description

One of four sets containg a circular blue cup with white interior and blue oval saucer marked Gaydon Melmex. This cup and saucer was designed by A.H 'Woody' Woodfull as part of the melamine formaldehyde Gaydon range following the success of the Melmex range. This kind of tableware was popular during the 50s and 60s for its bright colours and 'unbreakable' quality. It later lost favour due to the fact it stained easily and so is now mainly used for picnics. Cup: height 67mm, diameter 89mm. Saucer: height 100mm, width 133mm, length 149mm.
