Homemade toast rack

Description

A homemade toast rack and marmalade pot, constructed from acrylic sheet, cut to size and glued together, dated 1946. Holding six slices of toast, the fifth rack is longer, acting as a centrally positioned handle. The feet of the square-shaped marmalade pot slot into four round holes in the base. Given to the donor's parents as a wedding gift in 1946, the rack was believed to have been made by a friend who was a mechanic, used to making and fixing things in this period of austerity.
